LAIS information

LAIS is an upper secondary grammar school, established in 2009 as a branch of the BORGL and BHASL St. Pölten and a division of Okanagan Hockey Europe. In 2011 LAIS was authorized as an official IB World School entitled to offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme.

The LAIS students are part of a multicultural community and are being well integrated in a school for competitive athletes, that provides the unique opportunity to practice, study and live in an integrated environment on the campus. The LAIS prepares students for national and international higher education, leading towards the Austrian Matura (German-speaking natives) OR the International Baccalaureate Diploma (non-German-speaking natives).

In order to encourage the achievement of each student’s full potential, the curriculum has been adapted to the sports schedule, so enough time for hockey and off-ice training programme as well as academic education is guaranteed. Additionally an elaborate and well-established tutoring system is being offered to assist students with their academic progress, so studies can be intensified on basis of individual needs.

LAIS in general

We actively promote our students' sense of identity as well as their tolerance and appreciation of various cultures by stimulating their curiosity and encouraging the idea of lifelong learning.

LAIS school life

LAIS is an Austrian public school for student athletes, which in itself clearly distinguishes us from most other schools. LAIS students are international competitive athletes and hence are supposed to practice their favourite sport at a semi-professional level.
